JUNE WISH: In Search of Community Angels

As founder of Dawn’s Angel Wish Network, I am blessed to meet some of the most amazing people on the planet! Daily, I come across those whose mission is to help others. It warms my spirit to observe so many willing to step into their respective purposes and utilize their talents to serve! Some care for the elderly, kids, or animals. Some write or speak to encourage. Some give so freely of their financial/material resources. Others teach, organize, paint, or sing to inspire. And still there are some that simply know that being the conduit through which God’s light flows helps heal the entire world. This month, the wish is for readers to answer a very simple question: Do you know someone extraordinary that the world needs to know about? If so, I urge you to participate in the JUNE WISH!

JUNE REQUEST: Dawn’s Angel Wish Network is looking for COMMUNITY ANGELS. Do you know someone who has a heart of gold, works diligently, selflessly, and deserves some recognition?

The NEED: Help us locate these people!

The INSTRUCTIONS: In one page or less, tell us about who has inspired you through their example of service. Please include your name/contact information, the name of your nominee, and why you believe he/she should be honored as a COMMUNITY ANGEL. The deadline is July 1, 2009. Please email your nominations to Dawn-Mitchell@sbcglobal.net.

The REWARD: Let’s show love to those who show love.

MAY Wish: A Kidney for Tiffany

Meet Tiffany Douglas…professional…lover of life... positive… intelligent…faith-filled…beautiful…single parent of Cara (age 5) and Christian (age 7). Tiffany was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease seven years ago while pregnant with her first child. Her condition has changed over time as she has recently been informed that her kidneys are currently functioning at 18%. This means their ability to remove chemical/mineral impurities from the blood, etc. is severely impaired. Tiffany is now in need of a kidney transplant.

MAY REQUEST: The network is looking for willing donors between the ages of 19-49, in good health, with an O Positive blood type to get tested to see if there is a match. There will be no cost to you to get tested and you do not need health insurance to participate. All expenses will be paid. It does not matter where you are geographically located within the US.

The NEED: Would you like to be tested? Do you need more information on the process? Can you provide some encouragement (send a letter/card/email) to Tiffany? Have you gone through this process before and can give her some words of wisdom? Do you have other information that can help? Do you know of organizations that could help us help Tiffany? Would you like to make a contribution to help her offset living expenses during her surgery? CAN YOU PRAY FOR TIFFANY?

The INSTRUCTIONS: Please email me ASAP at
Dawn-Mitchell@sbcglobal.net for additional details and instructions.

The REWARD: LIFE…more abundantly for Tiffany, her family, and for us all.

APRIL Wish: Connecting with College Students

COLLEGE! Who remembers those days?? I surely remember them like yesterday. My time as an Ohio University Bobcat seemed to go all too slow as a struggling student taking that LONG walk to class everyday, but as I look back and review the last 17 years, I realize...UM…that 17 years is NOT a typo! Whoa! I’m sure that times haven’t changed much; I’ll bet Ramen Noodles are still all the rage! We all know that many college kids don’t have a lot of money OR resources. In fact, with the ever-increasing cost of tuition and books, it’s a miracle that most of them have any money left over for necessity items like clothes, toiletries, etc. However, I have been blessed to come across an organization that has a solution to this dilemma. I encourage you to participate in the APRIL WISH by joining forces with a ministry determined to “fill the gap” through helping college students in need.

APRIL REQUEST: Many college students are facing a tough time. With tuition payments, high priced books, a tough economy, etc. there’s little left over for necessities. Let’s help the college students in need!

The NEED: Would you like to join forces with College Students Ministries (CSM), a 501c3 organization, by donating to help students with basic necessity items? CSM visits state colleges/universities throughout Ohio and delivers special care packages to students in need. Items included in the care packages may include: toothpaste, washing powder, shampoo, soap, shaving products, clothing, accessories, etc. In addition, CSM ministers through delivering spiritual encouragement to support students on their journey towards graduation! Can you forward this blog to others who may want to help college students? Do you have information that may help CSM affect more college students?

The INSTRUCTIONS: Please email me ASAP Dawn-Mitchell@sbcglobal.net if you are interested in donating to CSM, or if you require additional information.

The REWARD: You could let a college student in need know that he/she is loved!
